Profiles : Barbara Walsh
Having gained a degree in social policy, Barbara entered the NHS, and after working in a number of London Teaching Hospitals, moved into mental health, where she became Chief Executive of Riverside Mental Health, serving Westminster, Chelsea, Kensington, Hammersmith and Fulham. From there she moved to Sheffield to lead Community Health Sheffield, an NHS trust providing mental health, learning disabilities and community services. Her final Chief Executive post in the NHS was as CEO of the South Yorkshire Workforce development team.
Since then Barbara has developed a portfolio career with a strong emphasis on children’s services. She chairs an inner city primary school and is Vice Chair of a local children’s charity. She has been an interim Director with the Children’s Workforce Development Council. She also supports a local drugs charity, Common Purpose, is actively involved in two family businesses and delivers neighbourhood mediation.
